They know that a full-time and permanent career as a professional Multi-engine IFR Charter Pilot in a remote region such as the Torres Strait is not for every pilot – However IF this is for you then they definitely want to hear from you!!!

What they do understand is that for most Pilots – Flying in the Torres Strait is a stepping stone to First Officer and Captain roles flying Jet and Turboprop aircraft with Airlines or advancement to more senior and varied roles in General Aviation based in regional centres and Capital cities both in Australia and around the world.

Required skills

  • BN-2 Islander Type Rating: YES.
  • Languages: English
  • CASA CPL;
  • CASA Class 1 flight crew medical certificate;
  • The unrestricted right to live and work in Australia;
  • 1000 hours of total flying experience;
  • 100 hours flying experience on Multi-Engine.

Desired skills

  • Familiarity with tropical wet season flying conditions in a VFR operation and/or IFR experience is also highly regarded.

Other information

Whatever your prior experience – there is a significant cost involved in getting your Torres Strait local knowledge and experience up to their required standards and so they do seek a minimum twelve month employment term commitment from successful applicants.

In return they can guarantee that the flying is amazing, that you will play a significant part in the lives of their wonderful clients and that when it is time to move on, your Torres Strait experience will stand you in very good stead for your next flying role.
