Draken Europe are recruiting for an Aircrew Training Captain to be responsible for ensuring that all pilots are trained to the highest standards set by the Company and the CAA under existing legislation. The role is dual-purpose, with responsibility to the Head of Training and Director Flight Operations for the AOC Training Department (through the Senior Base Pilot).

The position is based in Northern Ireland working on behalf of a new special mission customer. Suitable candidates will be already based in Northern Ireland or relocatable (relocation support may be provided if applicable).

Required skills

  • BN2T Turbine Islander Type Rating: YES.
  • Languages: English
  • Currently hold or eligible to obtain UK DV security clearance;
  • Hold a valid Professional Pilot’s Licence;
  • Have proven leadership skills when operating in a high tempo environment;
  • Be a BN Islander BN-2T aircraft TRE with instructional experience;
  • Display an aptitude for managing personnel requiring remedial training;
  • Have experience of managing a group of specialist individuals;
  • Have good presentational skills both verbal and written;
  • Be highly committed to maintaining and improving the standards of Islander training within Draken (Europe);
  • Maintain the course material for the Islander Type Rating course;
  • Maintain briefing material for recurrent and line training;
  • Be prepared to gain a good knowledge of Part FCL and general training legislation.

Responsabilities:

  • Strive for continual improvement of Draken (Europe) operational delivery by ensuring that Islander crews are trained and standardised across the full range of necessary flying skills;
  • Ensure that there is a professional development pathway affording new pilots with the right aptitude the opportunity to progress from initial Type Rating through to Multi-Pilot captain, LTC and TRI/E;
  • Manage the training cadre, including TRI/Es, and LTCs, to ensure that training standards meet or exceed both Civil Aviation Authority and Company requirements;
  • Liaise with the Authority to ensure that customer rear crew are appropriately trained;
  • Demonstrate commitment to the highest standards of safety and compliance through the support of the internal and external audit programme;
  • Maintain the FR Aviation Ltd ATO by ensuring regulatory compliance and through fostering open and trusted relationships with key Civil Aviation Authority staff;
  • Facilitate, review and recommend updates to the Islander syllabus and materials to effectively deliver a world-class aircrew cadre;
  • Maintain effective recurrent training programmes reflecting regulatory requirements and industry best practice. This will include liaison with the CRM manager to ensure effective delivery of CRM training;
  • Maintain training records in accordance with regulation and Company Operations Manuals, to ensure that pilots are qualified and current when rostered to operate;
  • Take responsibility for the Islander sections in the Operations Manual Part D (Training), Part B: ATO and the Pilot Training Manual to ensure that all are up to date, relevant and in accordance with the latest regulatory requirements;
  • Deliver initial and recurrent Type Rating training as TRI/E for the Islander ATO, including ground school (TKI);
  • Deliver Line Training as LTC for the Training Dept;
  • Operate as an Islander Line Captain.
