Flight instructors AFTA Ireland

Atlantic Flight Training Academy are recruiting for experienced CRI and IRI full time flight instructors with a view to starting early next year, 2018. Upgrade opportunities exist for suitable candidates to ME and CRI. Additionally, limited positions are available for SE instructors to progress within the organisation.

AFTA operate a large fleet of G1000, R and S Cessna 172 aircraft and Piper PA34 aircraft training domestic and international cadets for some of the world’s largest airlines. The purpose of the Flight Instructor role is to teach student pilots and to flag and resolve issues early before large problems develop.

Main Responsibilities:
  1. Flight, flight simulation and Ground tuition – Delivering instruction to students and completing the associated paperwork and record keeping.
  2. Improving current systems in developing new training practices / procedures e.g. rewriting / reviewing training manuals / syllabi, develop a new in house examination procedure.
  3. Monitoring student progress, carrying out student reviews, making sure flying standards are adhered to and being available if an issue arises.
  4. Ensuring that training is conducted in accordance with the approved syllabi.
  5. Conducting regular sampling checks (Progress) with students as required by the training syllabus.
  6. Acting upon any safety information or instructions in relation to flight operations and regulations as advised by the IAA and AFTA HT.
  7. Ensuring that student welfare and discipline is monitored at all times.
  8. Maintaining full and accountable records for AFTA management.
  9. Maintaining a safety oversight of all flight and synthetic flight operations.
  10. Ensure that all company policies, procedures and manuals and statutory regulations are being adhered to.
  11. Have a proactive approach to Health & Safety & Compliance and lead by example.

Minimum requirements:
  • A minimum of CPL/MEIR FI (A) CRI (A) IRI (A) is required
  • Current Medical Certificate
  • Aeronautical Legislation, rules (EU FEI / OPS / Sols etc.).
  • Knowledge of technical aspect of an aircraft and aerodynamics
  • Must be familiar with aircraft and simulators
  • Knowledge of EASA PART-ORA, ATO Manuals, ATPL theory subjects and practice is required along with knowledge of aircraft and the aviation industry
  • Ability to create teaching documents and manage control in the class room
  • Proficient in the use of teaching aids i.e. whiteboard, models, laptop etc.
  • Experience teaching people and personalities from a variety of cultures is required
  • High level of PC skills required. Must be proficient with Microsoft, email, internet, intranet applications and ETA

Desirable Requirements:
  • 2-3 years’ experience as an Instructor is preferred
  • ICAO English level 5 or 6 required
  • Demonstrated high level knowledge of all aviation ground subjects is desirable.

  • Self-starter with efficient work methods required with analytical & problem solving skills a distinct advantage
  • Excellent Time Management Skills
  • Strong Delegation and Decision-making skills
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to acknowledge and recognise good work.
