Dash8 Simulator Instructors Air Nelson New Zealand

Air Nelson has a rare opportunity for someone to join as a Flight Simulator Instructor for their Air Nelson, DHC8 Fleet. You will be based at Air New Zealand's flight simulator facility in the Auckland Airport surrounds and will primarily conduct Type Rating Training, Line Orientated Flight Training, Operational Competency Assessments and other Simulator based training exercises as appropriate.

Reporting to the Training and Standards Managers, you would become part of the senior training team, and as such may be called on to help develop future training initiatives and processes. This involves periodically reviewing industry and academic best practices, and working with training and standards management to investigate how these could be of value to Air Nelson. To gain the most out of this role you will be someone who is self-motivated, have a strong networking capability, and strong communication skills that allow you to effectively contribute to the wider team.

This role holds a high degree of responsibility as you will be required to assess pilot performance during simulator details. You will have clear and concise communication skills as this role will be required to provide a comprehensive debrief so that maximum training benefit is achieved from the detail.

Minimum requirements:
  • NZATPL or equivalent qualification recognised by NZCAA
  • 1000 hours PIC DHC8*
  • D Category Instructor Rating, or equivalent qualification recognised by NZCAA
  • Experience as Flight Instructor/Examiner on DHC8*
  • Understand regulatory and Company environment
  • Ability to network effectively with other airline training areas to seek best practice information
  • The successful applicant will be required to maintain the qualifications necessary to carry out the duties above

* DHC8 qualifications could be replaced by similar experience on another part 121 aircraft. Large turboprop experience is essential.
